The new structures are clearly awe inspiring but also show the growing disparity of the have and have nots of Moscow. Most of these developments are concentrated in a relatively small area of city, but within two or three metro stops, one will find delapidated buildings from the Soviet era inhabited by residents hardly able to earn enough money to feed themselves.
Many Russians refer to Moscow as a country within a country due to the immense amount of national resources invested into the capital at the neglect of the rest of the nation. It appears the analogy can be taken one step further and said that Moscow is creating a city within a city.
