* Chef to Chef: Competition takes stage at Taste of Athens

"At 6:30 p.m. Sunday, magic will happen in just under the space of an hour. That's when two chefs will go onstage at the Classic Center, armed with a fully stocked pantry, learn the secret ingredient and have 45 minutes to create an entrée that will be judged on originality, taste and presentation."

* For the Love of Art and Food

"The event, which benefits Community Connection, offers participants the chance to sample delights from Athens area food, wine and beverage vendors. You also can catch The Red Clay Chef Competition, in which chefs compete onstage to create a dish with surprise ingredients."

* A Taste of Athens: Eat Well, Do Good

"This year marks the second edition of the Red Clay Chef cook-off, when two local chefs face off in a 45-minute battle focused on a surprise ingredient. Homer Whitmire, the man in the kitchen at DePalma's downtown, who has been in the restaurant business in one form or another since he was 13 years old, and Bret Clark, who oversees all three kitchens at the Foundry Park Inn and Spa, will compete this year to impress the judges."
